You can choose to search for items only in your country if you aren't willing to/can't send money abroad, you can exclude words from your search which is very useful if the word you search for regularly comes up with irrelevant items. (i.e. searching for the band Ash frequently produces Pokemon related results so the words "pokemon" and "pikachu" can be excluded to get better results).
You can search within a specific category only, which is useful in the music section where you only want CDs for example.
